Award-winning social worker, national advisor, and PhD researcher Michael Elwan reflects on graduating from Auspire’s Multicultural Leadership Program in WA and the power of diversity.

Over the past 12 months, I’ve been part of an inspiring and transformative journey through Auspire’s Multicultural Leadership Program in WA. Surrounded by passionate leaders from diverse backgrounds, we came together with a shared purpose: to embrace and celebrate diversity while shaping a more inclusive Western Australia.

This multicultural leadership program offered far more than structured learning. It created connection, encouraged growth, and sparked new possibilities. The generosity and insight of our keynote speakers enriched each session, and the encouragement from my fellow participants built a strong sense of community that I will carry with me.

This experience has deepened what I’ve always believed: diversity is a strength. When we honour our varied experiences and cultures, we strengthen our communities; we become more innovative, more compassionate, and more resilient together.

Here’s to the journey we’ve shared and to the futures we’ll co-create. My heart is full.
