NDIS Psychosocial Referral to LEXs

LEXs accepts NDIS psychosocial referrals from participants, families, support coordinators, and allied health providers, Australia-wide. Michael Elwan, an Accredited Social Worker, delivers telehealth social work therapeutic support and psychosocial capacity building under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living. LEXs works with self-managed and plan-managed funding. Referrals are acknowledged within one business day, with an intake conversation offered within five business days.

How does an NDIS psychosocial referral to LEXs work?

An NDIS psychosocial referral to LEXs takes a few minutes. The steps are simple:

  1. Complete the referral form below with the participant's details, funding, and goals.

  2. Receive an acknowledgement within one business day.

  3. Attend an intake conversation, offered within five business days, to confirm the supports fit the participant's needs.

  4. Confirm funding, consent, and a start time.

  5. Begin telehealth supports.

Who can refer?

Anyone involved in a participant's support can refer. This includes the participant, a nominee such as a parent, spouse, or family member, a support coordinator or specialist support coordinator, a psychosocial recovery coach, a therapist or other allied health provider, a support worker, a local area coordinator, or a legal guardian. The participant needs to be aware of the referral and consent to it.

What LEXs offers

LEXs provides telehealth social work supports for people living with psychosocial disability and mental health challenges. Available supports include:

  • Social work therapeutic support

  • Psychosocial capacity building

  • Carer and family capacity building

  • Review or progress evidence for a plan review or reassessment

  • A psychosocial report to complement another provider's assessment, for example alongside an occupational therapy functional capacity assessment

Sessions are delivered in English or Arabic. For other languages, interpreter options can be discussed at intake, so multicultural participants can take part in a way that works for them.

FAQ

Q: What NDIS funding does LEXs work with?

A: LEXs supports participants whose Capacity Building funding is self-managed or plan-managed. Social work therapeutic support and psychosocial capacity building are claimed under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living (therapeutic supports). LEXs does not work with NDIA-managed funding at this stage, so please confirm how the relevant budget is managed when you refer.

Q: How much do LEXs social work supports cost?

A: Social work supports are charged under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living (therapeutic supports), in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. Charges apply to direct sessions, to non-face-to-face work such as reading documents, liaison, and report writing, and to cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice. The exact rate is confirmed at intake.

Q: Are LEXs sessions in person or by telehealth?

A: All LEXs sessions are delivered by secure video or phone, Australia-wide. Telehealth works when the participant has a private space, a device, and a phone or internet connection. If you are not sure whether telehealth suits the participant, note this on the referral and it can be discussed at intake. Individual sessions run for 60 minutes.

Q: Does LEXs accept complex or higher-risk referrals?

A: Yes. LEXs accepts complex psychosocial referrals, including risk histories, under a documented telehealth safety protocol. Participants in acute crisis need a crisis response first, and LEXs will accept the referral once the situation has stabilised. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Thank you for your interest in working with LEXs. This form helps confirm we can meet the participant's needs before we proceed. LEXs supports participants whose Capacity Building funding is self-managed or plan-managed, and delivers all supports by secure telehealth. Referrals are acknowledged within one business day; an intake conversation is offered within five business days.

Where care feels human again

Lived Experience Solutions (LEXs) acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters, culture and community. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

At LEXs, lived and living experience sits at the heart of the work. I value the knowledge of individuals, families, carers and kin who navigate mental health challenges, distress and recovery, and whose expertise helps make care more human, compassionate and responsive. I am particularly committed to the wellbeing of multicultural communities, whose experiences are too often overlooked in mainstream mental health systems.

LEXs is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive and affirming space for people of all ages, abilities, neurotypes, cultures, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, body sizes and lived experiences.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. For 24/7 crisis support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. LEXs is not an emergency or crisis response service. A list of 24/7 crisis support lines across Australia is available here.
