I’m Michael Elwan, an Accredited Social Worker offering online EMDR therapy for adults across Australia, in English, Arabic or both.

You may know that an experience is over, yet still find yourself reacting to reminders, avoiding situations or feeling on edge. We start with what is happening for you now, what you would like help with and the support you already have. Family, culture, faith, migration and caring responsibilities can be part of that conversation when they matter to you.

I completed advanced EMDR training directly with Graham Taylor, a pioneer of EMDR in Australia, through Therapist Training. Graham trained with EMDR founder Francine Shapiro and helped deliver Australia’s first EMDR training in 1992. My training includes structured case consultation.
I was also named 2025 Social Worker of the Year at the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) National Excellence Awards.​

Who this is for
Adults seeking help with distressing experiences and their effects on everyday life. We begin by assessing whether EMDR fits your needs.

Concerns that may be brought
Trauma, grief, anxiety, anger or relationship difficulties. We explore what is happening and whether distressing experiences are contributing.

Therapeutic approach
EMDR is the modality I offer to new individual therapy clients. Assessment, preparation and ongoing review are part of the process.

Online format
Secure video sessions across Australia, available in English, Arabic, or both languages.

Fees
Individual EMDR appointments are $150 for 60 minutes, including your first appointment. For NDIS enquiries, check service scope and funding arrangements before booking.

Your first appointment
We discuss your concerns, relevant history and goals, assess suitability and begin preparation. Memory processing may start at a later appointment.

Privacy and crisis boundary
LEXs does not provide Medicare rebates. You can book private sessions without a GP referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan. Information about confidentiality and record-keeping is provided in the Privacy Policy.
LEXs is not an emergency or crisis response service.
